Institute for Emerging Health Professions, Thomas Jefferson University, PA, United States marilyn.huestis@gmail.com ORCID: 0000-0003-2137-4645 Professor Dr. Dr. (h.c.) Marilyn A. Huestis retired as tenured senior investigator and Chief, Chemistry and Drug Metabolism, National Institute on Drug Abuse, NIH in 2016 after 23 years of conducting controlled drug administration studies. She was an Adjunct Professor, University of Maryland School of Medicine, Baltimore, MD from 1999-2017, and currently is a Senior Science and Policy Advisor for PinneyAssociates, Professor at Thomas Jefferson University, Adjunct Professor, University of New Mexico, Honorary Professor, Barts & London School of Medicine & Dentistry, London, England, and on the Smart Approaches to Marijuana (SAM) Science Advisory Board, and President of Huestis & Smith Toxicology, LLC. Her research program focuses on the neurobiology and pharmacokinetics of cannabinoid agonists, kratom/mitragynine, in utero drug exposure, oral fluid drug testing, driving under the influence of drugs, and identification and quantification of drugs by mass spectrometry. She published 580 peer-reviewed manuscripts and book chapters. |

Eva Hoch, Professor Dr. IFT Institut für Therapieforschung, Munich, Germany Prof. Dr. Eva Hoch is the Scientific Director of the Institut für Therapieforschung (IFT) – Centre for Mental Health and Addiction Research in Munich, and Professor of Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy at Charlotte Fresenius University. She also leads the Cannabinoid Research Group at Ludwig-Maximilians-University (LMU) Munich. Prof. Hoch’s work examines the clinical, psychological, and societal effects of cannabinoids. Her research interests include cannabis use disorder, the mental health risks and benefits of THC and CBD, and the public health implications of cannabis legalization. She has played a key role in developing and evaluating evidence-based interventions, including the CANDIS program. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in high-impact journals such as Nature Reviews Disease Primers, World Psychiatry, and European Archives of Psychiatry and Clinical Neuroscience. Her work spans systematic reviews, clinical trials, and policy-relevant studies addressing the effectiveness of psychosocial and pharmacological treatments for substance use disorders. |

Marisol S. Castaneto, Ph.D. Chief QA and Forensic Toxicologist at DOD Food Analysis and Diagnostic Laboratory, United States Lieutenant Colonel (LTC) Marisol S. Castaneto is a U.S. Army biochemist with a BS and MS in Biochemistry and a PhD in Toxicology. A Fellow of the American Board of Forensic Toxicology, she currently serves as Program Manager for the Army Forensic Toxicology Program, Office of the Surgeon General. In this role, she provides expert consultation and testimony in forensic toxicology for the Department of Defense, including court martial proceedings. Her prior military roles include Chief of Quality Assurance at the DoD Food Analysis and Diagnostic Laboratory, Commander and Deputy Commander of the Army Forensic Toxicology Drug Testing Laboratory, and Assistant Chief of Clinical Investigation. LTC Castaneto is an active member of SOFT, TIAFT, AAFS, and SAFMLS. She has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals on drug analysis and novel psychoactive substances and frequently presents at national scientific meetings. She is also a sought-after speaker at both local and national forensic science events. |

Erin Spargo, Ph.D. Assistant Director at NMS Labs, Horsham, PA, United States Dr. Erin Spargo is the Director of Toxicological Services and Assistant Laboratory Director for toxicology and controlled substances at NMS Labs in Horsham, Pennsylvania. She earned her BS in forensic chemistry from Ohio University (magna cum laude) and her PhD in toxicology from the University of Maryland–Baltimore, conducting research at the National Institute on Drug Abuse on controlled MDMA administration. Dr. Spargo previously served as a forensic toxicologist in Baltimore and Seattle and later as Deputy Chief, then Chief, of Forensic Chemistry at the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas, Texas. She also held an assistant professorship at UT Southwestern Medical School. A Fellow of the American Board of Forensic Toxicology, she is also a past President of the Society of Forensic Toxicologists (SOFT), and a member of AAFS, TIAFT, and TACLD. She has authored over 20 peer-reviewed publications and contributed a chapter to Principles of Forensic Toxicology.. |

Kayla N. Ellefsen, Ph.D. Deputy Chief Toxicologist, Travis County Medical Examiner's Office, Austin, TX, United States Dr. Kayla Ellefsen is the Deputy Chief Toxicologist at the Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office in Austin, Texas, a role she has held since 2016. She performs complex forensic toxicological analyses, interprets findings, and advises medical examiners, law enforcement, attorneys, and public health officials on toxicological issues related to cause and manner of death. Dr. Ellefsen also serves as faculty for The University of Texas Medical Branch Forensic Pathology Fellowship Program. Her research focuses on developing and validating methods for detecting drugs and emerging novel psychoactive substances (NPS) in traditional and alternative biological samples. She currently chairs the Society of Forensic Toxicologists (SOFT) NPS Committee and has been a member since 2018. Dr. Ellefsen holds degrees from Laurentian University, Sam Houston State University, and the University of Maryland–Baltimore. She has authored over 25 peer-reviewed publications and is an active member of SOFT, TIAFT, and AAFS, with multiple awards recognizing her work. |
